Hometree Charity

Our partner dedicated to restoring Ireland’s lost rainforest.

What they do

Hometree is a non-profit organisation focused on establishing and conserving permanent native woodlands in Ireland through restoration, afforestation, and education. Their Wild Atlantic Rainforest Project aims to restore temperate rainforests by:

  • Protecting fragments of ancient oceanic woodlands.

  • Creating new woodlands where they once existed

  • Engaging with local communities to foster a connection with nature.

By integrating community involvement with ecological restoration, Hometree contributes significantly to Ireland’s environmental resilience.

Why Restoring Atlantic rainforest Is Important

Restoring native woodlands, such as temperate rainforests, is crucial for enhancing biodiversity, building climate resilience, and repairing our connection with nature. These ecosystems support a rich variety of flora and fauna, improve soil health, and contribute to carbon sequestration, aiding in the fight against climate change.

How we Help

Reforest Nation is proud to support Hometree’s Wild Atlantic Rainforest Project. Thanks to the support of our Rewild Members, we’ve donated €1,000 to assist their vital work.

This contribution helps by:

  • Funding the protection and restoration of ancient oceanic woodlands.

  • Supporting the creation of new native woodlands through planting and natural regeneration.

  • Facilitating community engagement and educational programmes to foster a deeper connection with nature.

Together, we are working towards a future where Ireland’s native woodlands thrive, enriching the country’s natural heritage for generations to come.
