BirdWatch Ireland

Our partner dedicated to the conservation of Ireland’s birdlife and their habitats.

What they do

BirdWatch Ireland is Ireland’s largest conservation organisation focused on birds and their environments. Their mission includes:

  • Leading the conservation of over 200 bird species in Ireland.

  • Conducting nationwide surveys to gather data on bird populations and their habitats

  • Advocating for the protection of Ireland’s most vulnerable species and environments.

By engaging with local communities, promoting sustainable policies, and implementing on-the-ground conservation actions, BirdWatch Ireland plays a key role in protecting Ireland’s birdlife.

Why Birds Are Important

Birds are vital to Ireland’s biodiversity. They act as natural seed dispersers, pollinators, and pest controllers, supporting the health of ecosystems. Birds also serve as a barometer for environmental health, with declines often signalling wider ecosystem imbalances. Protecting birds helps preserve the intricate relationships that sustain Ireland’s natural world.

How we Help

Reforest Nation is proud to support BirdWatch Ireland in its efforts to conserve Ireland’s bird species and habitats. With the help of our Rewild Members, we’ve donated €1,000 to help fund their important work.

This contributions make a difference by:

  • Restoring native woodlands, creating vital habitats for nesting and feeding.

  • Supporting education programmes to raise awareness of the importance of birds and conservation.

  • Contributing to long-term research and monitoring initiatives that track bird population trends.

Together, we’re creating a future where birds and nature thrive, ensuring a healthier environment for all.
