Bat Conservation Ireland

Our partner protecting Ireland’s bats and their habitats.

What they do

Bat Conservation Ireland is a non-profit organisation committed to protecting Ireland’s bats and their habitats. Their mission includes:

  • Monitoring and researching Ireland’s nine resident bat species.

  • Securing and enhancing bat populations and their ecosystems.

  • Raising public awareness about the vital role bats play in biodiversity.

By collaborating with communities, policymakers, and conservationists, Bat Conservation Ireland ensures these fascinating creatures remain an integral part of Ireland’s natural heritage.

Why Bats Are Important

Bats play an essential role in maintaining Ireland’s ecosystems. As natural pest controllers, they consume large quantities of insects, including harmful agricultural pests, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Their presence is also a powerful indicator of ecosystem health, reflecting a balanced and thriving environment. Protecting bats ensures not just their survival but the resilience of Ireland’s biodiversity as a whole.

How we Help

Reforest Nation is proud to support Bat Conservation Ireland in safeguarding Ireland’s bat populations. With the help of our Rewild Members, we’ve donated €1,000 to help fund their vital conservation work.

These contributions make a difference by:

  • Restoring native woodlands, essential for bat roosting and foraging.

  • Educating communities about the importance of bats in Ireland’s ecosystems.

  • Supporting bat monitoring and conservation initiatives across the country.

Together, we are building a greener, healthier Ireland where bats and other wildlife can flourish.
